Glad the shipping company have sorted it out for you.

Looks like it was Direct Line (insurance) that sorted it ;)

Ok not many of you will be doing this actual trip but bear in mind if you are even put on the top deck of a ship/ferry.
I used the Trasmedditerania ship from Lanzarote to Cadiz on the night of 31st December needless to say it was dark.the ship was almost empty but myself along with roughly 30 other vehicles were parked on the top deck in the open air. The crossing 34hours was no drama and arrived in Cadiz at 06.30 and of course very dark.
I then travelled to Antiquera 200kms, and it was when arriving I noticed some black marks on the bodywork, I left it until the following day and realised the car was covered in these black marks which on closer inspection turned out to be soot from the ships funnel. The soot it turns out is very acidic and corrosive. The marks could not be washed off and one of the larger marks finally came off taking the paint with it down to the metal bodywork.
This has become a very big problem thankfully now resolved by Linea Directa who have been excellent.
The car being one year old has been in the workshop here in Antiquera stripped to the bones and totally resprayed plus many of the lights and bits of trim have been replaced. Costs over 6000€. And the shipping companies response was, did you report this on the morning of disembarking, take photos of the car, basically they did not want to know.
I have wondered since about a number of the other cars that were parked close to me in particular a brand new Mercedes and an Audi they must have been in the same position as myself, just be warned if you even get put on the top deck.

« Last post by Ste80 on March 11, 2024, 14:23:08 »
I have a hyundai i30 year 2012. Had a dying battery for a while now. Alternator is fine. Been checked. Have had 4 brand new batteries for my car and neither will start it. It will crank but not start. But soon has I put my dying battery in which needs jump starting regularly. It will start the car fine.. at a loss and with new batteries it's being too costly. Any ideas? Battery wejat came with the car has no information on it either. No label etc. Thanks

General Chat / Re: Rear Window Nozzle/TPMS

From what I remember lots of Hyundai and Kia washer jets are fixed in one position and not adjustable .. this is the case on the ix20.. have a look at this vid below.. with the TPMS .. just over-inflate the tyre and reduce the pressure to what it's supposed to be..  TPMS sensors have a battery in them so they usually last around 4 years so if over-inflating and reducing the pressure doesn't work it may be the sensor.. you don't have to go to Hyundai for a replacement you can use an independent.. link below..

Hi....2017 i10, the rear window nozzle sprays water too far missing the window. What is the easiest way to adjust this or do I need to take it to garage?

Also can't get TPMS light to go out despite tyre pressure checked and correct. Any ideas?

Thanks for help

General Chat / Fuses on Bayon

Hi. I've recently taken delivery of a 2022 Hyundai Bayon and I'd like to fit my dash-cam. I would like to know which ignition controlled fuse would be suitable to take power from. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

General Chat / Hyundai Manual
« Last post by Watergeus on February 15, 2024, 17:09:54 »
We recently bought a 3-year old i20 from a Hyundai dealer and it came without a manual, except for the audio-visual system. I tried to find one online and found many PDFs, but the production standard was so bad I couldn’t use them. I asked our dealer if I could buy a copy and they said that Hyundai didn’t produce printed copies any more.

So I had to buy one off eBay and that’s slightly more usable even though it’s produced from a PDF. But considering the care that’s gone into the production of the cars, why are the manuals so shoddy?

Here are some examples.
1. The front page says “Owner’s Manual” but doesn’t identify the model or even the make of car. (I can’t even see a mention of the word i20 anywhere.)
2. The table of contents is distributed through the manual making it difficult to use. In many of the PDFs I downloaded the chapter numbering doesn’t even correspond to the actual chapters.
3. There is no index, despite it being in the main table of contents.
4. The illustrations, particularly those showing instrument layouts, are so small and indistinct as to be almost unusable.
5. There are no electronic links in the PDF versions.
6. I don’t have any document that tells me the options my car has and it’s often tricky to know which of the many variants is appropriate to my car.
7. The variants at any one stage are often listed one after another without any key which ties them together so that one gets lost.

Now I realise that cars are made from a large number of parts and many of the parts are used in multiple models. So doubtless the writers want to describe each part once (for each language) and then stitch together a manual from all the appropriate parts. But then why don’t they do the job properly and (a) provide a different manual for each variant of each model and language and (b) include the appropriate text that identifies the variant in the appropriate place? The technology is comparatively simple to generate these on demand (including indexing) if the number is too large to keep in stock.

General Chat / Re: I20 2021 DRL

Hi.

I believe those 'big sweeping shapes' should be illuminated at all times the engine is running, apart from when the headlamps are lit and/or the handbrake is on.

General Chat / I20 2021 DRL
« Last post by Milky Lobes on November 28, 2023, 20:54:38 »
Excuse the dumb question! This is my first “proper” car and I was just wondering about the DRL

UK!!!

Firstly, are the DRL on the i20 2021 the big sweeping shape above the headlamp?

Secondly, if I switch the light switch from auto to off, will the DLR also go off or stay on?

Thirdly, do I have to have the hand break off, and be in gear for the DRLs to be on?

Thanks in advance :)
