Auto v Manual
« on: August 09, 2017, 17:30:17 »
Can any one let me know what the Hyundai 4speed auto drive is like? It seems to be reported as very good and docile around town - but when you want to hurry up on a main road, does it do its stuff?
Is it as hard on fuel as reported?

Your opinions would be appreciated as I'm drawn to an auto i10 as my next change.

I've had auto and manual ix20s.  I prefer automatics anyway but in terms of the 4 speed gearbox, yes it's not the greatest on an incline, but if I pick up the speed before that, it's fine.  My driving is mainly surburban so may not be a fair test.

Thanks for that ffiscool. Most of my driving is town and country lanes and the auto seems to do well for this. I do know that around town I'm hardly ever out of second and third gears so that in itself keeps consumption on the heavy side. Auto can hardly do worse can it?!

I don't pay much attention to mpg.  I don't do high mileage, so it's not affecting me much. I prefer the auto in any car, so for me it's more ease and comfort
