Good evening,
Just a brief introduction
I have recently purchased an 09 plate Tucson diesel 4x4.  My first Hyundai.
I bought it to pull a two berth caravan as my Volvo V70, whilst great on the road, simply spins its front wheels whenever there is the merest suggestion of wet grass or unmade ground which is not perfectly level.

So far I'm delighted with the Tucson.
Only 35k on the clock, and very tidy

Make sure the caravan noseweight doesn't exceed the car's limit, get some good all-season tyres fitted if you want to tow off wet grass - and make sure tyre pressures are set correctly.

Re-reading it, yes, you're right - but my comments still apply - iX35 / Tucson / Santa Fe are all primarily FWD cars which only transfer power to the rear axle when front slip is detected. The difference compared to a full-time 4wd system is noticeable - my Santa Fe used to scrabble at the front on dry roads until the 4wd operated, the delay being noticeable - but it's never happened once on the Touareg despite similar weight and 40% more torque
